17-year-old shot in Bearden apartment in critical condition


A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in a Knoxville apartment and has been transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, authorities said.

The teenager sustained life threatening injuries in the shooting that took place at 5:42 p.m., according to a press release.

Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the report of a gunshot victim at the Elevation Apartments in the 2900 block of Willow Oak Drive.

The teenager was found inside and transported to UT Medical Center.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the shooting happened following a domestic disturbance.

The Knoxville Police Department said all those involved are cooperating and the investigation is ongoing.

Four teens have been shot and killed in Knoxville within the last two months. The most recent incident happened last week when a 15-year-old boy was found shot on Cherokee Drive and later succumbed to his injuries at UT Medical Center.
