A shooting in the Montgomery Village housing project in South Knoxville this afternoon has left one person in critical condition, authorities say.
Knoxville Police Department officers were sent to a shooting call outside an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Daylily Drive around 12:45 p.m., according to KPD spokesman Scott Erland.
They found a male victim “suffering from multiple gunshot wounds” who was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Erland said.
Police didn’t release the name or age of the victim.
“The circumstances that led to the shooting are unknown and there are no suspects in custody at this time,” he said. “The shooting is now under active investigation by the KPD Violent Crimes Unit. That investigation remains in the preliminary stages.”
